2ltr engine, did you swap it from the 2.5ltr? I'm reading that sometimes the bigger engine does better mpg. Perhaps due to lower revs or higher torque?

Now with full E85 (ethanol - octane grade = 106) only 24 mpg (but it's the equivalent of the 30 above, 20% of over consumption with E85 is considered as normal). But I'm always driving in sport mode (higher revs). But talking of torque, with new VIS motors in full order, derestricted air intake (trumpet gone & 4 holes drilled in the low air box) & full MIJ ss exhaust (with derestricted back box), it's a very dream: responsive, powerful, fast. An amazing bliss and nearly 20 years next 1st of July! I don't want at all to swap my 75 with any other one!

Thanks for the reply but I meant does the 2.5ltr actually return better fuel economy than the 2ltr. I'm considering a 2.5ltr auto but the fuel economy can't be great although the drive will be smooth.
I'm hearing that they aren't that bad & sometimes better than the 2ltr engines. My current 1.8T gives mid thirties but it manual. Lovely drive & nice car. Wish I could post a photo but the forum is so old fashioned in layout! |

As I've only a 2.5 I can't tell you the difference but I was told that the 2.0 was weaker and less powerful given the weight of the car and charge. Less power but mpg likely very close to mine.

Just for comparison, I have a 1999 2ltr auto and keep a track of my mileage brim to brim. Over the 3 years & 32k of mostly a-road commuting in this one the figures for a tank are:
worst - 25.0 (last winter in the snow) average - 29.7 best - 34.9 (summer touring)

In contrast my diesel estate averages 46 mpg, bit more in the summer, bit less in winter. That's normal driving not pussy footing about trying to up mpg figures. Got a driver awareness course tomorrow, was clocked at 68 mph pulling our caravan going uphill on the M6.
