Default annual winter frozen lock issue

In common with many other owners/members I have recently suffered the above problem when after unlocking my car and closing the door it just bounces open again, but after a few moments of pushing the door closed it seems to resolve itself

Thus winter has thrown up a new quirk to the problem and now my front passenger door refuses to open from inside it's been like this for over a week now but unlike an identical problem with the N/S/R door which did the same during the summer and corrected itself the front door won't seem to do the same.

I believe an operating rod may have become detached, has anyone suffered a similar issue and if so is it an easy fix?

Going back to the frozen lock issue, one wonders if the cars were tested in arctic conditions as is often the case during development stages or perhaps it is an age related issue such as the actuators getting worn thus possibly causing the sticking?

It's probably the end of the cable broken behind the door pull, easily seen by popping out the bung and removing the screw in the back of the door pull. It then can be manoeuvred out to check. Door card off to change though.

Often down to a lack of maintenance - the locks (hinges, staybars, etc...) can and should be checked and lubricated at the annual service... so many 'full service' ignore everything but what is in the engine bay. Wear is bound to play a part and with the cars now anything from 12 to 18 years old these little extra service items are far more important to keep an eye on.

Decided to go for xmas shopping this morning. Car frozen solid again, wife got into passenger side, door would not shut! After about 10 mins and car warming up we finally got the door to shut. Last year had the same problem with rear door, must just be a problem with these cars.

Get some WD 40 squirted into all these troublesome places to drive out the moisture and stop the freezing up.

I have this intermittent cannot close/lock the door. And I have an 06 Rover 75 which was one of the last made and not that old. We need to find real answers to fix or it will make the Rover 75 unusable.

It will be 13 years old in April as the latest it would have been made is April 2005 though could be a late 2004 car.
Definition of old?

Preventative maintenance is down to you, as is any maintenance of older vehicles. No good blaming the car for cold weather problems, which happens to all makes Your car is 11 years old
