Update, it stopped raining and my new relays arrived. I disconnected the battery,I removed the engine fuse box, checking all connections underneath, all perfect sprayed with plenty of cleaner while I had access, put in the new relays. Then I removed the battery and battery box, it was like new underneath like the rest of the engine bay, no bare wires no chafing, I sprayed as many connections as I could see, then put everything back. I removed the fuse 4 to reset the auto box with the ignition on and waited 20 minutes. Fuse back in ignition on no error EP to be seen. It started first turn and I went for a good drive, it drove beautiful. I parked back up waited a few seconds then switched off. I turned the key to pull it out and thought, I'll turn it back on, yup EP on the display, no oil can showing. I was just about to start shouting as I took the keys out, then I put the keys back in and EP was gone, just P for park and oil can back and it fired up again. I can't keep doing this, what next? It's so random, it could be perfect for a couple of days then back to normal. Unless there's something else I can try I'll contact someone on here with a T4, that has to find the problem. Thank you for your input so far those that have responded, respect to you.
Regards DaDragon

It has all the symptoms of a faulty ECM - the CAN bus controller is failing. Unfortunately they can fail even without going for a swim.

Okay, not good news, but why does resetting the Auto box via fuse 4 fix it , all be it temporarily?

Hopefully some info on this thread might help, or at least point you in the direction of some checks you can do with a multimeter.

Diesel auto non start - EP on dash
https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/top...ink_source=app

My problem was non- starting with EP on the dash, and no oil light showing.

A clean ecm provided by Brian, didn’t resolve my problem, but eventually resolved with changing relay no. 4.

Had a few where EP was displayed that turned out to be relay 4in the underbonnet fusebox, swap it with one of the other yellow ones and see if it improves.

If not get in touch and I can check it out for you.

Thanks, I did say above that I replaced 2 relays with new ones ordered from Rimmer Bros, the one they sent for the position 4 ( green) was black rated at 40 amps but I'm hoping was the right type ?
The yellow one they sent for position 3 was yellow and identical. I now have a spare yellow one ,if the pins are the same as the old green one i can swap out the new black one and cross my fingers. Thanks for your input. I will contact you if it doesn't sort itself out. You did a re-map for my son Lee years ago on his Starlight silver diesel ZT and he was very impressed . Knowing my luck they've sent me the wrong relay?
Regards DaDragon. ( Roger)

Default EP on message centre

Relay 4 should be yellow, well, is on all my cars.

Relay 4 is removed from the photo below (not my car)
