mine was a w202 and i loved it full stop.even down to the foot operated handbrake.now i am looking at the new c class .as for the old ones e class would not touch one with a barge pole.a long one at that.unless it it had a full merc service history.and and if it had been serviced at a merc garage in the last x2 years any issues with corrosion they will sort out for free.now if i had the choice i would go for something like a old 190 one of the last handbuilt ones built like tanks

Strange how theres good and bad in all cars/makes I had a 1998 320 e class merc w210 (the rusty ones) and mine was perfect never cost me more than service items in 3 years and is still going strong in the hands of a local owner although it does have a patch of rust on the lower front wing now and yet others rusted away as you looked at them..
Worst car ever owned? thats easy Rover SD1 V8 awful in every way
Cheers Ian

I'm sure Keiran will back me up on these, but one of the better used buys!

As far as the engines concerned, I've only heard the normal stuff really, things like Turbo's and glow plug relays.

With higher miles then comes stuff like MAF's and blocked breathers.

As for the car itself, on the Coupe just make sure that the door glass drops an inch when you pull the handle and snugs itself back into the seal when closed and just normal car stuff, make sure that EVERYTHING is working, as they can be costly to put right if not!
