Fitted the new compensator this evening - proved even more straightforward than I expected thanks to Arctic's very clear HowTo. Old one had stretched about 8mm.

The improvement in handbrake performance was obvious straight away - really well worth doing.

My old compensator is now packed up and ready to be sent back on Monday morning.

Many thanks to ARCTIC for this great mod

I bought a few from my local breaker, and sent them to Harry, who sent me a modified one in return.
I still have mine to do,but will have to wait until Inget the new boiler put in,before I fit it and return the original. Whilst on the subject,is it necessary to remove the front seats to undo the console screws? If not how do you get them,as the seat cushion blocks access?

Richard.
No need to remove the front seats to take out the screws at the side of the console and no need to remove the console either, and you would need to send the compensator back to Harry as this would not have nothing to do with the stainless steel one i modify if you go to post 15 of this thread you will see how to fit the compensator somtimes its best to try and read though all the post even though they maybe long Arctic.

It is a struggle to get those two screws out, but by moving the seats to the best position they can be removed with patience. Once those and the two bolts at the rear are out, the back end of the console can be sprung up and propped up enough to lift the carpet high enough to remove the compensators steel cover plate.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I believe this is more difficult on a ZT, due to the side bolstering on the seats.
