Default New One On Me - IPK Speed Warning

Yesterday my saloon was in for a full service - usual stuff, all five filters, oil, gearbox oil etc.

Today, I'm driving along the motorway and the IPK flashes up a red 70 in a circle, the words speed limit and an audible alert. Looking down, I see that I am indeed doing slightly over 70. MY previous saloon was a MK1, it never did it, my current tourer is a facelift 06, it doesn't do it. I've had a lot of 75s, I don't recall any of them ever doing it.

This is probably not news to anybody but me, but does anybody have an explanation as to why it has just started happening now when it has never happened before?

press the button on the end of the stalk the last option says speed you can set it at 10mph increments
set it to 0 and it wont go off

Thanks t5tart, simple enough.

I learn something new every day about these cars - just seemed bonkers that it started doing it today.

I'll probably leave it as it is tbh, it was quite handy

It's a feature of the HighLine display system, which comes with the multifunction stalk.

SWMBO finds it hard to believe I went above 70.

I suspect there'll be leather arm patches and slippers under the tree for me this year.

Ah well

You can set it too any speed you want. Your mechanic must be knowledgeable with 75s. It was probably set at 140 mph which will never be seen.

He is.

He does joke that my issues with my 1.8s over the years turned him into an expert on them, but in truth, he's forgotten more about them than I'll ever know.

Top fella
