Went to adjust the handbrake on the offside which was not successful possibly due to a seized adjuster. That was the least of my worries as notices a nasty hole in the rear arm. Was ok in April at mot time and was going to clean them up and waxoyl for the winter.
Anyone got a couple of good used ones ? Oh and I had two punctures repaired yesterday. Still the fitment of two ppd seatbelt anchor bolt caps has cheered me up Last edited by jn12; 8th September 2017 at 18:17.. |

Just washed and leathered the car off with Autoglym shampoo and conditioner. It's now chucking it down. Beading up well though!

Replaced the two front brake pipes with copper ones from Richards Classic Carparts. Put a spacer under the handbrake nut to reduce the amount of slack on the lever. Both failures on the mot last week, so hoping for the best. Just hope the rear wheel bearing doesn't fail en route (it only got an advisory!)

Spent yesterday finishing off underselling and a once over for its mot today. Always a bit of a nervous wait but had the call that the cars ready to collect. Another pass without advisories. Nearly 3 years and 25k with me, never ever caused me any trouble. Can't say that about any other car I've ever owned.
Away to order service parts and get another oil change in before the winter. Treat the old girl. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Went out prepared to replace the PRT. discovered that I had damaged the new radiator which now has a couple of small leaks
Thinking of taking it off, putting radweld in, flushing it through then putting it back on. Alternatively get another new rad, also get a new condenser for the A/C and replace both, fix the leaks and have that as a spare.

Out of interest, do similar cars such as BMW 5-series, S-type Jags etc. have the same problems of rusty subframes etc. It is quite worrying sometimes just how bad these relatively young cars can get....or am I just being naive?

Rain stopped play this afternoon on my rear-end clean-up and rust proof.
But delighted to see how good the original paint and subframe, brakes etc. are after 12 years and 63k.

More tinkering than serious work.
Replaced the rusty retaining bolts on the front bumper top with stainless steel bolts and washers on my 54 Rio Red ZT followed by replacing scuttle clips after reading 'How To and Why' by Arctic. Polished hazy headlight with 1200 wet and dry followed by 2500 then acrylic polish. Removed, cleaned, greased, replaced all six bolts top of struts. Polished bonnet and front wing tops as well as parts in engine bay. Fitted a couple of Scotch pads over the plenum drains to stop leaves blocking Replaced the air filter on my 54 Ignition Blue ZTT. Put final coat of lacquer on front wing trim from my 54 Chagall ZT that was suffering from lacquer peel. Just have to think of a way of removing broken plastic retaining clips from wing without damaging wing. Should they be loose? I expected a tight fit to prevent water penetration. Started rubbing down a rear facelift bumper to fit to my newly acquired 02 Typhoon ZTT that has rear end damage but rain stopped play. Converting it to Mark2 with rear bumper and lower tailgate panel. |

Washed Frosty, drove to Whitley Bay, drank coffee and had a bacon sandwich to share with my dog.
Looked at many classic cars, not 75's or ZT's, a kindly seagull divebombed the car, fortunately along came a monsoon to wash it off Then after much fun was had, I drove home and put another coat of paint on the replacement upper rear arms for the ZT. Awaiting the arrival of the new spherical bush for the trailing arm, to replace the one i had to kill in order that the gash upper arm could be removed....... That isn't how it's described in the workshop manual, that's for sure Brian |
