We're talking about Scotland not Finland It all depends where you are heading for, very rarely get snow of any consequence here. In the south of Scotland its probably no different to where you are, north of the central belt (Edinburgh-Glasgow) is where it can get interesting.

We are going to Aviemore which is closer to Inverness then Glasgow or Edinburgh. Got to be snow.

Are you planning to do some snow racing competitions .

Good luck with the search.
thanks yes know about speed ratings, insurance and the tyres can fail if run at a speed the car is capable of which can be greater then what the tyre is capable of.

Not sure if the speed rating is an mot issue

Got to be nothing! I just did a check of the weather in Aviemore Feb this year, lowest temp was -1 and it rained for nearly half the month, no snow. Take waterproofs not snow tyres

If you re read your first post you actually asked for H rated tyres ,That's why I linked the page back to you If you have a 1.8 or a diesel H Rated are the rating given in the MK2 handbook

Added a link to all seasons tyres in V speed rating

Not a problem

I would have an educated guess that the tyre size on the 16 " rims has been rounded up to a common tyre rating as the demand for H rated tyres at that size has not made them viable to manufacturer .As an up rated tyre it would present no problems with fitting

Never used winter tyres in Scotland or any were else for that matter. If its bad i stay put and enjoy a family conversation instead.

This was taken at just south of th Cairngorms..

Good luck with the search.
All sounds very complicated. Not like the start of the 70's as newly passed full license holder we couldn't afford winter or snow tyres, just used what was fitted to the car but drive a bit more gingerly (this was in the dales, so we saw snow more often than not).
