On the local news last week they ran a story that a local company were short of LGV drivers. I rang the company a number of times and left 2 voice mail messages, still waiting for a call back. Just left another voice mail. Can't blame their shortage on Brexit or fuel shortage so what is their excuse?

I think I will email the local news to let them know.

One thing a quite senior person advised me during an early part of my career was always to have a few vacant positions on the team. Then if the planning goes up the wall, there is always the ready-made reason of insufficient resource!

It doesn’t feel as if there is a quick fix to the problem of a lack of hgv drivers. The fuel shortages will shortly ease but could happen again at any time if confidence drops. The government seems to be now giving Xmas supplies it’s attention. We seem to be in the middle of a number of problems threatening the functioning of our lives. Will we ever get back to a period of stability and prosperity?

yes we will. We the public must stop panic buying as we the public cause additional shortages on top of existing shortages. The figures show that covid is still infecting people and so we must not relax, if we do not heed the figures we could find ourselves on another downward spiral.
We have had a difficult 20 and a bit months but as people go back to work things will ease. Not only will shelves be stocked but employment will bring confidence and people will spend money. We have seen how difficult it has been for companies and people with no income during covid and so whilst they need to spend to help the economy grow and bring employment they also need to learn a lesson and put money away for a rainy day.

Is that because their own moved back from the UK leaving lots of jobs vacant?
If we fill our HGV/Tanker driver shortages with our own then will we have shortages and a lower unemployment rate and so help the economy?

Be interesting to see how job vacancies do or do not get filled.

I am.in the same boat, regarding a stainless exhaust. Emailed via powerflow, direct and left telephone messages over past 3 weeks. But I want it, nowhere else convenient so have to wait.
