Central jacking points
Hi all, this might sound like a silly question but I'm trying to get my 75 up high enough to crawl underneath & work. I have big thick wooden blocks waiting to rest it on but what I need to know is, is there a central jacking point for the front & rear that I can use my bottle jack on?
I don't want to do one corner at a time as its already on axle stands & don't want it falling off them & there's no way of fitting the wheels on at the moment. I'm after getting the body about 2ft off the ground so I have room to work. Thanks in advance ������

So you want to lift all four corners two feet off the ground using axle stands? Good luck with that - it sounds rather precarious to me, but I am a nancyboy when it comes to laying under a car. Getting just one end onto stands gives me the willies, so both is another thing altogether. The problem (for me anyway) is the inadequate provision of central jacking points. You can use the central jacking point, but it is best used with great care, i have read that some have used it only for the jack to slip off the jacking point.
I tend to use a couple of blocks of wood/decking cut square, mostly if the car front needs to be raised only them ramps are always your best tool. 1 2 Once you have the car up a certain height use some wooden blocks under the wheels. 3 Take your time and always check everything is going to plan car is lifting ok. 4 As soon as you can get axle stands under the jacking points or subframe points. In my case here i was using the higher ramps at the front which i can not drive up with the R40 as the bumper would catch the ramp going up and down, so car was jacked up and the ramps slide under. 5 Then i raised the back with the trolley jack on the towing hop under the boot area. 6 This is the final outcome 7 care and double checking is the right way if you are going to use the front or rear jacking centre points. Never ever get under the car until you know 100% it is safe and secure, also tell some one you are working under the car also, and to check on you periodically, good excuse for your wife or partner to make you a coffee every 15 minutes or so PS i would take extra care using a bottle jack, in fact i would not use one.

Yes, large ramps manually positioned under each wheel are the way to go.

instrcutions with axle stands is you should not use 4 to support a car.
Only use 2. I have either both front or both rear on ramps and the other end is supported by axle stands. Big blocks of wood under chassis just in case or the wheels under chassis. My jack has a large "cup" that fits under the whlole width and back of front jacking point so it cant slip off macafee2 |

Thanks guys. The plan is to jack it up a little at a time at either end & support it on some pre cut ft square pieces of railway sleeper placed under the normal jacking points. It's on 4 axle stands now so I didn't want to jack up the corners & risk it sliding off one

Well clearly using the wheels is out at the moment. Sleepers will be more than sufficient once it is safe. If you are using a trolley jack under the central points make sure the vehicle is not going to roll with the jack, then when at the desired height, ease off the jack slightly but leave it in position as back-up.
