Under seat airbag wiring
I am having the dreaded air bag light remaining on - and after reading the many threads on the subject I think the wiring connections under the seat may well be the problem.
Could anyone identify for me which connector is which in the attatched photo ? In particular I can see an orphan black connector but no obvious place to which it should connect - could this be the problem ?

i think that connector is for the seat belt warning light the air bag connectors are blue and yellow spray with electrical contact cleaner then push the plugs in and out a few times i used to the hold them tight with cable ties.i have now however changed the connectors when i changed the seats to the early type which lock together no problems since just checked your photo its both the yellow plugs dont mix them up

I think the yellow is the airbag and the blue is the pretensioner (if I remember).
tracing either cable to its destination with your fingertips will tell you for sure which is which. Don't worry about the orphan block. It is surplus for something else. I have changed my connectors to block type from halfords. They are fine. Whatever you do, only use a proper electrical contact spray to clean if you go down this route. Don't use WD40 - this is a water dispersing oil. By the way, it is only 4 50 Torx bolts to lift and tilt the seat to get better access. Last edited by Dashiel; 5th October 2011 at 21:02.. |

Went through this drama with my 2004 KV6, first it was the passenger side, then the driver's side, and the only real cure is to cutout both yellow connectors and solder the wires together rather than replace the connectors. Have had no trouble since.

Thanks for the advice - I will have a try at sorting out the connections this weekend and see if I can fix the problem properly.
