Default Rear screen washer on tourer

Can anyone enlighten me on the operation of the rear screen washer on the facelift tourer (2004)

Mine is not working - so I have started to look for the problem at the washer bottle end. I was expecting to find two separate pumps - but only found one, with two outlets.

I am presuming one of the outlets is to the front screen washers - which work perfectly - and one to the rear. The outlets are marked right and left - can anyone tell me which is the rear and which the front.

As there is only one pump I presume the rear screen wash should operate at the same time as the front - is that correct ?

As the fittings and plug are there for a second pump - would there be any gain in separating the systems to front and rear ?

Single pump, runs in one direction for the front, and the other direction for the rear....

Pull the pipes off and check it works at the pump first.

The rear doesn't operate at the same time as the front, it works by turning the ring on the wiper stalk either up or down depending on whether or not the rear wiper is already on.

If you did separate them then the wiring that is there is for the headlight wash so I think you'd find every 5th time you use the screenwash with the headlights on your rear screen would get a blast of wash.

It's all controlled by the BCU so would be a pain to separate....

I am presuming since it works for the front washers the pump itself is ok ?

Do you have any idea if it is the right or the left outlet that goes to the rear ?

In theory but it could be an electrical problem. unlikely to be the switch, but could be wiring / BCU
