Default MOT Site - Suddenly better!

Like myself many on here know how to check MOT history online of cars they see for sale, i seem to use it all the time.

https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

They now seem to of updated the site today in order that it details the MOT location and premises address. I reckon this is most useful.

We have all seen cars that have failed on many items only to pass the next day etc. Now one can tell if the same premises etc delt with the retest and not perhaps some other (possibly dodgy) test centre.

Can also tell if test centre was an independent or a main dealer.

I reckon this all in all is quite beneficial to interested parties.

Hope this helps someone!

I had a quick look, and it seems they no longer show advisories, which are quite useful if you are looking at buying a car

It's still showing the advisories for mine when i just looked it up. It is interesting to see where my car has lived over the years. Came up from Southend and lived in Gt Yarmouth until she moved here two years ago

I've just had a quick look too, and advisories are still listed. Try checking again on a vehicle that you know has had advisories in the past.

You are correct - I obviously chose a car that was 'too clean' - I put in my MGB, which I know had some advisories a few years back, and they came up OK.

Cheers

..and I have to say, my car went in for its first MOT at an Autocentre and they passed it at 52.5K miles, with no advisories and a clean pass. Now there is a novelty for an Autocentre not to find anything at all wrong, that they could charge to fix

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Just thinking if any member has a car with a 100% pass rate from new if they would be kind enough or brave enough to put there registration up for us to have a look!? I believe a few do exist within the club

Mine only failed once, J4 MKO on the indicator and repeater colours fading. All MOT's were carried out at the same dealer who did the annual servicing too. Had it been garaged overnight that probably wouldn't have happened so it would have got that 100% record. When I bought the car at 19,800 miles earlier this year it came with every MOT certificate, service receipt and tax disc.

By all means have a look at mine:

Y92EEX.

Presumably the "missing" years are pre electronic recording of MoT's.

She has all the paperwork for everything from Day 1. That's why I bought her.

Andy.
