Vibrations in roof ZT-T

It appears that the cross member or brace across the roof at the B pillars has come away from the roof on mine. It rattles horribly with the subs turned up which can be stopped by pushing up in the middle of the roof.

Tomorrow I will be dropping the headlining and trying to bond the cross member in place plus I'll add a little dynomat.

Has anyone got any tips for removing and refitting the headlining please?

Also, what is the best glue to use - I'd planned on getting some Gorilla glue in Wilko in the morning but welcome recommendations.

Whilst it's apart are there any other areas that rattle I should attend to and any other jobs to do while the headlining is out?

Hi mate, ive done this a couple of times..

Dropping the headlining is easy on a tourer as once down it comes out of the tailgate easily, just remove visors, grab handles etc and it will drop down.

Use silicone to fill the gaps on the brace, then go over it with dynamat, dead easy just time consuming.

Sikaflex body panel adhesive or go to tool station and pick up some Stixall its flexible and is very strong once cured

Used cardboard on mine and it worked well. do not think I used glue

Had this on mine when I bought it. Only vibrated at around 1800rpm. Took out the front interior light and pushed some wadding in towards the back of the car. That was six years ago.......still no vibrations

The other way I was thinking about was to wedge a piece of 3x2 between the armrest and the headlining but, didn’t think it would look too good

Quick update.

Took about an hour of undoing everything, lights, visors, grab handles, clips for dog guard, pillar covers etc. so that the headlining was free to drop down. I didn't fancyun-gluing the wiring along the front to the interior mirror so just let the headlining drop down so I could see and reach the brace bars.

I think there are 4 going across the roof of a Tourer/ZT-T and 2 of mine were no longer attached to the roof. I filled the gaps and holes in the brace with clear silicone, also put some into the ones that weren't loose. Car stinks, put 2 tubes into it. I also put some sound deadening mat in the gaps between each brace bar to help prevent vibration.

Putting the headlining back in is simple enough - start at one end and put it back together in the same way you removed it - apart from making sure wires are in the right place for the lights and the visors, simple enough. Took about another hour to do this as I took the door rubbers/seals off too to get the pillar covers on, took it steady.

Car is now rattle and vibration free, nice and quiet and I can turn the volume up well past the level I want it now

I need to do this on my fishing truck, but whilst it vibrates and makes a noise , it takes my mind off it's rattly engine
