Interior fabric adhesive
Hi, everyone,
The time has come to re-stick the interior fabric of my 2001 Rover 75 X-reg sedan. The fabric is - I think - that man-made 'velor'(?) which looks and feels like a genuine soft fabric. It's peeling away from the back of the front seats and interior door panels, revealing an orange residue of the original adhesive. The interior trim colour is recorded as 'SCF', a light beige. Can anyone recommed a suitable adhesive for this, please? Halfords etc have various spray adhesives, but none that seem to be particularly for this job. I imagine there's the one chance to do it properly, and not leave wrinkles or a hard finish or muck it up completely. If anyone can recommend the correct adhesive and method I'd be very grateful. Thanks! Dave Iggulden. |

I bought some recently off ebay that was a high temperature headliner adhesive.
I tried a can of ordinary spray-on adhesive that I had from Screwfix, but it all peeled off in the hot weather! The interior of a car is like an oven in the summer, so would recommend the high temperature stuff. |

If your trim is that bad I would replace it with new cloth.
The orange stuff you mention is the foam backing on the original trim which degenerates with age and heat. I’ve recently re trimmed my head cloth and door cards with new cloth. Simply re glueing the old cloth will not give very satisfactory results. |

Get some soft white cotton gloves from a pharmacy, if your worried about finger marks.
