Default Bring classic road tax to 30 years again

Someone else started this yesterday, but it's already rolling the ball, preposal to bring classic car road tax to 30 years instead of 40.

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/578294

I think it's a great idea, especially with so many cars being traded in for electric cars etc it could really help booster car values of older stuff and also revitalise the classic car market after the global lock down.

I've no problems with mot's being 40 years myself however, but free road tax after 30 years would definitely go a long way imo.

Signed.

I can see a vast number of older cars being scrapped over the next few years which will be a tragedy for the loss of the potential spare parts if nothing else.

This petition will just make the greenies aware that such things exist and next thing you know HMG will remove it for all. Let’s just keep it quiet eh?

Yeah, same as when the scrappage allowance was provided...

Default Signed both me and the better half

Does it not take more energy or greenhouse gases to make a car, so the longer you run them the less your foot print. But they look so good, not like the euro boxes.

Signed, but I feel that VED (Road tax) should be abolished for all vehicles and the tax increased on fuel.
That would then force the estimated over a million untaxed vehicles on the road to make a contribution.

As I have stated many times, the greenest car is the one you currently run. Around 80% of the footprint is in the construction, not the use.
