Instruments
Just removed my instrument pack off my 2004 Contemporary SE saloon to send to Rick-sta for an IPK upgrade.
I have an identical spec. Tourer project car (which has never run whilst in my possession) from which I've 'borrowed' the instrument panel so I can keep my saloon on the road; it looks like it's been fiddled with - there's a couple of small cracks eminating from the lower edge of the panel clear front cover (one below the reset button) so it may not be 'virgin'. I've effected the swap-out but on first switch-on of the ignition/start up surprised to find that there is an error showing for the outside temperature reading (-30C) and the odometer is indicating the doner car mileage. Otherwise all the dials seem to be working normally although I've not taken it for a spin yet. I would have thought the odometer memory would be on an ECU or other control unit rather than stored in the panel. Can anyone explain to a numpty |

The mileage is locked in the LSM and transfers via T4 to a virgin IPK.
I guess your replacement ipk with throw up ‘err’ at some point, don’t panic though, the lsm will have your correct mileage stored ready for when your ipk returns from Rick.

Had to search the abbreviation (LSM? - knew it but had forgotten!!) but is there a reason why the LSM is used to store that bit of what appears to be unrelated data; especially as the LSM (can't stop me now..) is prone to the odd fry-up.
I've seen a video for disassembly of the instrument module but is the clear front cover just a clip-off/on but that can be replaced, if so has anyone got a nice spare knocking about? |
