Body restoration
Hello, My trusty Rover 75 (Diesel) is looking a bit sad, it has some rot on one front wing and a couple of pieces on the sills plus I'm told it's getting flaky underneath and won't last much longer without some work. I love my car and I know it would be easier to just go and but another one, but I have done so much to her over he years and know all her faults and foibles. I was wondering if anyone knew anyone who could blast it underneath and then coat it, weld a couple of patches on the sills and possibly replace the wing and make a lovely job so that she looks like new (not a botched job in other words I know a few of those already) I'm disabled and not flush with cash, but I was hoping the old girl would see me out. If anyone can recommend someone in the South Yorkshire area I would be pleased to hear from them. Regards. Ged

Go and have a chat with Tom Hobbs, he will be able to repair the bodywork to better than factory standard and I’m sure he can advise on the rust treatment while your there.

He is off the MI - Junction 26 -so not far from Donny - he is a maestro of body work and knows the 75/ZT well - many folk on here have used him and the results are superb.
His e mail and website below. [email protected] https://www.tjhobbs.com

Does anyone know if Tom is still working as I have tried to contact him via email, text, WhatsApp, phone call but can't get hold of him. Desperate to get rear jacking point repaired for rear subframe replacement.

He may be away - however his E bay shop is selling front, rear and middle sill sections - so you could buy a section and get a local welder to fit it.

Thanks for the info about Tom. Ok quick question about supporting rear of tourer to do subframe if Tom cannot fit me in soon. Can you support the car using the main chassis running either side of the spare wheel. If so I can get on with the subframe and suspension change while I wait for Tom to fit me in. Don't want to try unless someone can give me some advice.

I've used the chassis legs at the spare wheel well to support the tourer whilst doing a subframe change on 3 of my cars without a problem. Have also done the same at the front when dropping the front frame to do a clutch slave cylinder.

Hi Martin, I have used Common Lane Restorations near Goole: Fulham House Farm, Whitley, Goole, DN140JL. 01977677927, I got the sill from Tom who was too busy to do small jobs. Speak to Gary or James
