Air bag safety
I am about to finally fit the real walnut facia I brought some time ago - and this involves removing and re-fitting the cover from the passenger air bag.
I have looked at the advice in the howto section (which is very helpful) and note that it is recommended that the battery be disconnected and then left for about 30 mins to allow the air bag capacitor to fuly discharge. Unfortunately I have also seen multiple posts about problems being encountered after the battery has been diconected - so even though I have the radio code, I am a bit nervous about disconnecting the battery. Is this really necessary ? I understand that the air bags are disarmed when the ignition is turned off, so if I did that, removed the key, and then waited 30 mins is that not to all intents and purposes the same thing as diconnecting the battery as far as the risk of the air bag going off is concerned ? I suppose to be really sure I could remove the fuse to the air bag ECU as well. Or do I just disconnect the battery and take the risk ?

I, like you, would have thought removing the fuse was sufficient.
Am sure someone far more experienced/qualified will be along shortly to confirm or rebuff that. Chris
