Paint Codes
Hi.
Today i passed by Jewels paints shop and decided i would myself a can of paint mixed up and some clear lacquer, i gave the code of the door which is JYA thinking it would come back as seafrost blue,as in reebs list link below. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=20831 But instead it came back as Rover teal Blue Met Code JYA now either the list is wrong or the code on the car is wrong, any ideas please.

Well, 'Teal Blue' was never listed as an available colour for the 75 or ZT in any of the sales brochures, but Seafrost Blue was a later addition to replace Wedgwood. This happened prior to the introduction of the facelift cars at which point Ski Blue was added to the line up too.
I've double checked on the EPC, and can confirm that part number AWZ000320 is 'Paint-pencil - Seafrost blue, JYA @ £5.89 + VAT for the touch up stick. Perhaps, that specific paint formulation was used on older MG Rover models in the past and so was known by a different name, but having searched the current Electronic Parts Catalogue, 'Teal' does not show up at all So I don't think the ID plate on your car is wrong here. |

Hi Poppy.
They can not mix it wrong because it is mixed to the code on the car, door frame so basicly i am saying either the code on the car is wrong or the list is, as JYA comes up Teal Blue Metalic. i have yet to use the spray, but the paint shop Jawel have a really good name doubt they got it wrong.

As always photo's taken i have just tested the spray and guess what it is a bang on match so Jawel paints have JYA as Rover Teal Blue metalic. so something is wrong i will have to get intouch with duncan as he as a simular colour blue Tourer to me wonder but his is a bit lighter in colour.
i have sprayed a bit of plastic pipe to see how it matches with the car in different places because this colour changes at different angles and light. look below. 1 next to the bottom grill 1 2 stood up next to front bumper 2 3 next to back bumper and tail gate 4 next to front near side headlight. 4 5 next to front off side wheel arch 5 6 pic from original 1st post 6 As you can see this is a perfect match in all the angles on the car so JYA must be Rover Teal Blue Metalic and not seafrost blue as first thought and by the list. yes.

Hi Steve, I have no doubt that your car is painted in JYA, and yes it looks like a perfect match because you were able to acquire the JYA formulation.
The only thing here is what it is known as by either the paint shop, The Rover 75 and MG ZT sales literature and xpart spares dealers. As long as you order JYA, you obviously can't go wrong. Take a look over on .org too, they also list JYA as Seafrost, but Teal as JMC for MGRover vehicles dated 1970-1975 Paint Code List. The touch up stick can be purchased from xpart dealers or via Rimmer Bros Seafrost Blue Touch Up Stick |

Well I think its pretty obvious that "Seafrost" and "Teal" are one and the same colour.
The marketing people probably just changed the name because "in their wisdom" it sounded better. "Seafrost" sounds more arty farty than "Teal" |
