rear callipers
Hi all, got an overheating rear calliper that i cleaned the slide pins a few months back, so i need to work on the road and 60 year old with bad knees, so would you recommend a new calliper of refurb it with a new piston set ?
Thanks

I've had a few of these over the years and it has always been the same fault - rust on the lip of the caliper outboard of the piston seal. That's the bit that sits just inside the rubber protection bellows and isn't in contact with the brake fluid. Removing and stripping the caliper down and cleaning off the rusted lip works fine, or you can fit a new piston and seals or a new or refurbished caliper, whatever you fancy.

I agree with Mike Noc but Mike's skills are better and faster than mine and so I bought two BMW calipers as here £30 for one and so for £60 swapped both rear sides for new.
Obviously double check whether parts fit but these worked for my late saloon CDTi. They may supply calipers that fit your petrol Rover 75. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174898720703 I always use a foam camping mat to sit and lie on when working on the car so warmer and nice and comfy.
