Is Britain going to the dogs
I am not sure where to post this, so forgive me for just posting here!.
But watching the evening news today, paints a very grim picture of today's Britain. The NHS is in dire trouble, the government in disarray, and out of touch, the PM candidates, can't find their way out of a paper bag, Utility bills set to go through the roof, Inflation in double figures, the economy in recession, people having to go to food banks, the 'heatwave' energy companies announcing profits in the billions, nurses leaving the NHS in their 000s, Dentists soon to vanish as an NHS service, If I have left anything out, feel free to add to this list. But more importantly, what are your views? |

It's the same everywhere else.
I can think of two countries I would choose to live in. 1. The United Kingdom. 2. Great Britain. |

Anywhere in Europe for me, fed up with the excuses for all that is broken or on the verge of it. The current mess has been writ large since 2016, we relied on persons with little or no ability to make something of a devisive decision which has little or no chance of delivering on the half baked promises which were trotted out to support the arguement. Not holding my breath for any improvements in my lifetime , pity the generations that have to pick up the pieces.....

Mac cheer up, obviously all those people coming illegally and legally to live here know more than the media "prophets of doom" so maybe it will be ok after all. Chris.S.

Too many people on these islands for our overwhelmed infrastructure to support.NHS,housing transport etc cannot be expected to cope with demand. We are a victim of our own success to some extent.

My own views are different, and may be even considered argumentative. I do believe that Britain is on a spiral to decline, and insignificance the political leadership is very poor, and self serving, the political architecture developed over several centuries is such that ordinary people find it impossible to be heard, as such the system is self sustaining and and unchanging. This will lead to decline, and more decline in the standards of living of the average person whilst the 'elite' will continue to prosper, but more importantly this small group, will call all the shots, until people wake up.! |

you say "....I can see that most views are focused on the 'ah well what can any one do' variety, which does not surprise me. My own views are different, ....." but you dont tell us your suggestion for a way forward. What are your ideas? In part, we the public are responsible for the situation we find ourselves in. macafee2 |

Can’t accept that entirely! Having a ‘vote’ can be empowering but when faced with choices of the crooked leading the bland, followed by the yappers and hangers on, we are too often left with the least worst alternatives.
The public are not responsible, they too are casualties. How many of us toilers actually know anything at all about any one of them? Or even what they do all day? Then, when you consider the apparent power of a professionally deaf Civil Service...... As for the way forward, how about working entirely from their constituency offices and being accountable for their hours? If the system now allows WFH without the need for regular mass meetings where nothing but froth is discussed...well, you get the point!
