Bubbling noise under bonnet fuel pump
I replaced both pumps 10000 m ago with mkon replacements
upto today no problems the ubp has started to gurgle and the car difficult to start with only a 1/4 full tank does this sound to you like intank pump failure ? If so what would you do re mkon supplier ? |

This is definately in-tank pump failure !
The in-tank pump assembly has a vent valve & when the pump fails & the tank is only 1/4 full, the under-bonnet pump sucks air through this vent valve. If you put more fuel in, the gurgling will stop but it won't cure your problem until you replace the pump or find out why the pump isn't working. Last edited by mh007; 27th April 2012 at 19:54.. |

The bubbling noise continues even thought the tank is now full
however the engine starts ok or at least over the last three starts |

If you can't hear anything from the in-tank pump, this is the first place to start.
Best way is to undo the filler cap & have someone turn on the ignition for you. You should be able to hear the pump. (unless of course you want to lift up the rear seat & remove the plate on the O/S) If you can hear the in-tank pump, I would then lift the pump out & make sure nothing has come apart (making the in-tank pump also suck air) The problem is, if it is a in-tank pump failure, the under-bonnet pump is working twice as hard so that may fail too ! |
