Do you mean the cable itself? you need the cable that Phil suggests so you are able to see the program on a laptop screen.

Correct, software was written to use a cheap cable (£3.15) from Ebay.

The ELM 327 is a cheap cable from Ebay, sold as a cheap way to tap into the diagnostics. I don't want to buy a second one, if my ELM will do the job..
