The thing is it's making me feel a little guilty, as i dont want to get who ever was driving into trouble, i know that it was a very stupid and unwise thing to do but if it means he will loose his job or be reprimanded for it makes me uneasy. but i will wait and see what the reply is , if any.

Good luck with it Andrew, hopefully if nothing else your alloys should be sorted. I'm sure the driver will be put on another course if anything comes of it and that can't be a bad thing.

To be perfectly frank the actions of the police driver were unacceptable, what if the roles had been reversed? The policeman would have no hesitation in having you prosecuted for dangerous driving which would result in you losing your licence / job. The police are not exempt from the law. |

This is indeed very unusual behaviour for a Police Driver.
The unmarked and Traffic cars I use to drive are only driven by Class 1 Drivers after a intensive training course, unlike other Police vehicles which can be driven by anyone. This doesn't sound like the behaviour of one of these drivers. Hope it was a Police vehicle and not some of the "Hoax" ones around with blue lights behind grille! Police keep a driving log so easily traced with time/location and date, If on a emergency call it would also be logged.. |

Had a letter this morning from the Police headquarters, regarding this, although its polite but the jist of it is,they accept that there was a operation (odd name ) at that time /date and place but will not say what type of operation. Also they are asking for any whitnesses, etc as they have had no other reports to this insident. havent got a leg to stand on then ???????????Carpet and sweep i think oh well i must have dreamt it then , but that dont explain the brown stain on me seat?

I would write back and say that you were so shook up and it happened so fast that it was all you could manage to park the car and trailer and try and calm down (and you with probs of a racing heart). By the time you´d stoped sweating there had been another hundred or so cars down the road. They have admitted that they were there. How would you have known about it if you hadn´t been there. You could easily have been killed. I would have another go at them

Now if you had been caught speeding you would have had to state who was driving - why not ask for details of the officer driving at the time.
