So, the only supplier of oil suitable is Rimmers?

Any Xpart dealer/service centre can supply the correct fluid and since I believe Rimmers are an X Part dealer I suspect that X Part is their supplier as well.

Texaco N402 was the fluid specified by Rover when the specs were originally drawn up. However, Texaco (Chevron) later improved their spec. and that is marketed as TEXAMATIC 7045E.
If neither of these is available then I could understand the necessity to look for an alternative but that is not the case. Yes, someone fills the containers for Xpart & Land Rover, probably from bulk, same as many components for our cars come from a multitude of suppliers but are marked as Rover (or BMW). I have a feeling that N403 is indeed 7045E but is not of concern.
I contacted many sources way back in 2004/2005 in regard to the correct fluid, even Jatco themselves (who refer you to the car manufacturer ! ! !)
A senior member of the .org club contacted 10 Rover dealers over the issue. Result:- 9 out of 10 said they used Dextron. WRONG. This fluid is held by nearly every garage for ATF changes as it is O.K. for many auto boxes, BUT NOT FOR JATCO.
So, I then contacted Castrol (manuf. of Dextron ) and have their reply:-
WE DO NOT MANUFACTURE ANY ATF FLUID SUITABLE FOR THE JATCO BOX.
Of all the auto box specialists contacted only one came up with a credible answer when he read out to me the supplementary Jatco update specifying the later Texamatic 7045E. (This was also the only auto specialist that told me the cracked reverse piston could be replaced without removal of the box)
Just to go one further, Ashcroft Transmissions Ltd (probably the largest reconditioner of auto boxes) told me that they refill with Dextron http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ons/icon13.gif
As you have said you contacted oil suppliers in 2004/5. I cannot see any harm in seeing who produces a suitable oil in 2012; I personally like to know what alternative are available and then I can make my decision.

Given the change frequency, 60,000 miles, the cost is not a real factor.

Well I had a long conversation with an auto specialist near where I live, I was straight to the point, and asked him can you use Dextron in the Rover 75 Jatco box, his reply was this, hmm I would not use Dextron in those boxes after a overhaul, fluid change, top up, etc, as it does not meet the specks those boxes require, so no is my advice, so if I cannot get hold the MG/Rover fluid, is there an alternative that you have used with no come backs, he said absolutely and its (have you a pen?) Mobil LT 71141, the only advice I need to give you with this fluid is have it changed every 35 to 40 thousand miles instead of the recommended manufactures interval.
We then moved on to how a duty cycle of a suspect component in my auto box was carried out, and some other technical workings of the auto box, a very informative, highly skilled guy was my thoughts after putting the phone down.
Its a debate that will carry on and on me thinks.
