Broadband
I have just taken over another business and have been given there old phone number by BT, I want to add broadband but everytime I try to order it with a provider I am asked for a MAC code?, I assume the people here before me had broadband and have not cancelled it, how do I go about finding out who they had it with?, and how can I cancel it if it is not my contract?, it's driving me nuts now going round in circles, just need to get on line, any ideas?

If they don't pay the bill it will get cancelled and then you won't need a mac code.
Have you tried asking the people you bought the buisness off or failing that BT |

Les,
If I have this right there are two ways (perhaps more ) of getting broadband. Usual is piggy backed off your telephone line. Another is via cable etc with TV. Arnt these two systems separate. In other words if BT has the existing line, keep that cos you want the number and I am sure BT will take you money no problem, then go to a cable company like Virginmedia for broadband which can be a new installation ie no mac code needed. That assumes of course that cable is available in the area and I have not got myself totally confused about how these things work. David Last edited by David3807; 30th January 2011 at 01:11.. |
