Cruise Control Not Working
Cruise control stopped working after 9 years. The master switch lights up,when you press the set + button on the steering wheel, the yellow symbol on the dash lights up but the cruise does not work. The Res button also works, when pressed it switches on and off the yellow symbol on the dash, obviously after the set + button has been pressed.
When the clutch and brake pedal is used the cruise deactivates (yellow symbol goes off) Ive checked both switches on the clutch and brake pedals, all in position and the above would not happen if these were not in place? The actuator arm that connects to the throttle body linkage is connected and so is the vacuum pipe that connects to the actuator at the bottom of the bulkhead on the o/s.All the system, electrically as in switches and lights is working correctly as it always has done, but it will not activate the cruise itself. Anyone had similar problems? |

Check the Vacuum pipe for a small leak somewhere. Then get cycle puncture repair kit to make good.

Check the pedal switches have not become dislodged, especially clutch pedal; switch
edit, muppet should read properly before replying. Use a vac gauge on the diaphragm to see if it can hold a vac. |

Vac Guage..........****** hell mate im just a poor HGV Driver...lol
Ive just unplugged the vacuum pipe from the diaphragm and pushed it in manually and held my finger over the outlet pipe and the diaphragm does not lose any air and stays compressed until i release my finger |

Update
Just for reference purposes, the problem has been sorted The problem was in the vacuum control pump.I took it off the car and prised off the top lid which is just a push fit.Inside is a little motor with a cam wheel device that operates a little diaphragm and a couple of electrical windings. The upper winding which has 2 wires soldered to it had one of these soldered joints broken off,so a quick resolder job, refit to car, take for a run,has cruise control all working again. So just incase anyone else has similar problems then this may be something to look at |

One for the memory Lates. Bet most garages would have fitted a new unit !

It's quite common place unfortunately, garages don't repair things nowadays. time and workshop loading don't always allow for open ended diagnostics.
