Need someone to replace water pump seal, Sittingbourne
Does anyone know were i can get the water pump seal changed on my 2.0 V6 for as little as possible? I live in Sittingbourne ,Kent
Last year i changed the thermostat and pipework myself in the V hunting down a leak but still it drips from the left hand side of the engine when looking from the front of the car. I also fitted and new fan on the radiator. But I'm not confident enough to rip the motor down to change this seal so the car has now been SORN for almost a year now and she is starting to grow moss. I now need a car, so have to get it working again for as little as possible. I don't want to waste my money on getting the Rover road worthy (TAX, MOT Insurance) if its going to continue leaking and not be reliable. As I'm a single father of three and home education i don't have a lot of spare cash. Yes, maybe the rover is the wrong car for me now, but... well you know how we feel about them! Thanks |

The unfortunate thing is that the front of the engine needs to be stripped (front timing belt needs to be removed) to access the water pump.
The water pump has to be replaced as you cannot replace the seal in it. There is a fair amount of work involved & I would be surprised if you could find anyone that would want to refit the old timing belt & associated tensioner/idler. Good luck with this. |

Give Mike Stafford a bell at MJS Auto & Marine. 07956 575220. He's mobile and based in Sussex. Check out website mjsautoandmarine.co.uk.
He looks after both of my cars. 1.8t+ and 260SE

Thank you guys, I know its not going to be cheap, just dont want to take it to a local place that may take advantage and charge a little extra. I will try Mike, i have heard of him, even may have spoken to him about my problem before. Also i remember speaking to someone about it that was going to charge around 350 400 to do the belts and pump last year, but i cant find his details.

I called mike at MJS, he said he is not going touch a V6 with this sort of problem. My heart sunk. I'm lost now.

Not the cheapest around but A/ they do know what they are doing and B/ they will not rip you off. Worth a phone call anyway.
http://www.appledevelopment.co.uk/index.html You need the Camer Park Road number. Good luck |

Well, got the car MOT'd , taxed and insured and its on the road, but no leak, i can't understand it. It was sitting for around 8 months or more in the drive. when i checked the water before driving it , it was full. Driven for about 50 miles now and still its not leaking. Maybe elves have come in the night to fixed it for me ? Will be keeping and eye on it and will contact the above if it does leak.
Thanks guys |

If money is really tight, I'd be tempted to try a product like K-seal if it starts weeping again.
