Announcing the 10th National Meet on Sunday 6th March 2011 -Calne, Wiltshire
Announcing the 10th National Meet on Sunday 6th March 2011 Situated in Wiltshire, the museum is within easy reach of the many ancient attractions (Avebury, Silbury Hill, Stonehenge to name but a few) of this rural part of old England. This very friendly museum established in 1962, houses a variety of vehicles many of which people will be able to say "I owned one of those" or "boy I'm glad I've got a 75/ZT!" Its located in a number of purpose built buildings with more exhibits housed in sheltered areas to the rear of the main museum. We have arranged for the museum to open earlier and close later than it would normally. The meet will start at 10.30am and finish at 4.30pm with all cars off site by 5pm please as the good folk running it have homes to go to! Dogs are more than welcome on site, but must be kept on a lead inside the museum. The parking up area is to the right of the museum through the driveway entrance. This area has been land drained in order for winter, or wet summer meets to take place. There is a road running around the perimeter which will enable the marshals to park the cars up with their drive wheels on the tarmac, so there will be no problem even if it’s raining (but of course it won't be) Speaking of marshals, we will have four available to help you get parked quickly and easily, this means actros will not have to do as much running about this time, bless him The parking area has, in the past, had two hundred vehicles on it so there will be plenty of room for us, with ample space for the cars to be displayed at their best. During the earlier months of the year the museum does not have refreshment facilities in place, but for us they will be bringing in staff to accommodate our needs on the day. The food will consist of bacon rolls, burgers, tea & coffee and snacks. As the venue is a registered charity we don't want them to stock up with too much which may go to waste, so when you are showing an interest in coming, could you give the club an idea of whether you will be using the refreshment area or not so we can give them a steer on how many to cater for. We don't want you to list your meal orders, but simply to indicate whether you will be buying food from them on the day ............and yes I did say bacon rolls!! The museum trustees have kindly allowed us permission to use the museum for a meeting. There will be 40 or 50 chairs set out while the rest will be standing amongst the exhibits. The time of the meeting will be announced on the day but will almost certainly be early afternoon. Here the Gryphon award will be presented, as well as holding our customary raffle draw. Please remember no tins of Spam are allowed into the meeting especially from Dave Items of merchandise from the club shop will also be available for purchase on the day. As is the custom on our first meet of the year, the annual Gryphon award will be presented to the best car of the show as voted for by the members. New members wishing to know more about the Gryphon award please click here The cost to attend the meet is £5 for adults and £1 for children, which includes entrance to the museum. If you would like to come, please indicate so by posting in this thread, include the number of people coming and whether or not you will be using the on-site catering. Once we have an established list of attendees we will give further details of how to pay. For more information on the museum itself, take a look at their website by clicking on their logo below The Atwell-Wilson Motor Museum Trust Downside Stockley Lane Calne Wiltshire SN11 0NF |

Hi Paul I had that feeling that this would happen to me one day ,In the past I have canceled our holidays so as not to miss a NATIONAL MEET this will be my first miss.
But is is one that I can not put off it falls on the Sunday of the BATTLE of BRITIAN and I will be on parade for the memorial service to pay my respects to those that gave their lives and to those who lost theirs while I was serving in the Royal Air Force But I am looking forward to the NATIONAL MEET in Calne see you there
