Default KV6 2.5 Auto 'Warm' Start problem.

Occasional problem with warm start after short journey from cold.

Car cold (not used for at least 6 hours)
Start. Tickover about 1000rpm settling to about 700rpm after 200 yards or so.
Drive level road about 2/3 mile then mostly downhill for another 2/3 mile.
Park. Temp gauge just reaching 9 o'clock so say temp about 75c.
Leave for about 5 mins and attempt restart. Engine spins quickly enough but no start. No unexpected warning lights. Leave for another 5 minutes, try again. Starts fine. Happened for last three days.

Any suggestions welcomed ?

Further info.

1/ Fuel filter screwed tight and orange clip fitted about two years ago. Not checked since.

2/ When engine fully up to working temp no problem with hot starts.

Diagnostic test would be your best route to be sure but Camshaft Sensor can have that effect & they do fail mainly when warm. Leaving it to cool for a while makes it good again temporarily.
I would get it tested though because guessing could work out expensive.

I had this with my 75 v6, picked up a cam sensor from scrap yard, it didnt fix it. Got an OBD II reader from ebay (£15) and it told me it was the crank sensor. After another trip to the scrappy for a crank sensor all was well.

Thanks for the replies.

Will do as suggested and get the car on T4.

Just a little puzzled as to why the difficult start only happens on a partially warm engine though.
