Brake Warning Light
For the past week my brakes warning light has been coming on intermittently.
So this weekend I got the car jacked up removed the wheels and found absolutely nothing wrong with the brake pads. Checked the ABS and again nothing wrong. There are no brake warning wires attached so that was a bit weird that the light came on. Sometimes the warning light doesn't come on, but other days it comes on and off through the day. So where do I look now?

There should be a wear sensor on both the off side wheels. These will bring the light on when the circuit is broken. Yours may have been shorted out to save buying sensors when the old ones wore out, so check your wheel arches for any bodged cables.

Hey Stuart,
Are you sure you're not seeing what confused the heck out of me at one point? That was that the system is supposed to do a check whenever the ign key is turned to position 2 - brake light should stay on for 3 seconds. Mine also says the words Brake Fault" which quite a worry! Handbook pp80 and 115 Mine appears erratic too but you know sometimes one doesn't stop at position 2 but quickly turn straight through to start motor - not waiting for warnings and stuff. Maybe that's what you're seeing and there's no fault (Hope so) - if it goes out. If that is it - you're not alone! HTH
