I can remember my dad saying much the same when the then new Ford Capri (The car you always promised yourself) appeared in the showroom at Dingles garage in Attleborough. In his broad Norfolk accent "blommin awful thing, looks like some fancy yank car, an you need to lay down to get in it" as he got back into his 1955 Standard 8...lol

Well the current MG cars are well made from dealings I've had with the mg3 for 4 years and now a MgZS so I expect the EV models should be .from what I've heard they are very good for EVs and at a good price for a lot of car

Finally saw one on the road today. Good looking car in black.
It’s quite compact as far as estate cars go but it’s certainly bigger than the mainstream offerings and that’s where it will gain sales. Now a family of 4 can travel with all their luggage. The Zoe for example will struggle to carry a few shopping bags.

I tried a MG5 EV a few weeks ago. I was more concerned about getting the dog in the back OK - he seemed happy but I'd build a false floor for him. Went OK, very OK actually. Almost diesel-like torque surge through the speed range but the quiet takes some getting used to. It's not a sports car, it's an estate car and goes like one. I'd say a 75 cdti with a 160 map would be a close comparison.

A neighbour of mine has traded his Jaguar XF in for a MG5, he said "got to go electric sometime, why not now?"
