Thanks again for all your replys, I have now found the problem. The original diagnosis of a faulty starter motor was correct, the new starter motor is fine, the battery is fine. It turns out that when the AA tried to jump start it they blew a surge protector fuse which is located on the main +ve feed from the battery down to the starter motor(looks nothing like a fuse) still in grateful for them getting it home. I have had real trouble trying to locate a replacement, it turns you have to change the whole battery lead harness, finally found one for £60.00.
