Default Buy cheap, buy twice, stupid is as stupid does etc.

So I replaced the radiator in my V6 - When I connected everything up the cooling fan didn't come on. Disconnecting and reconnecting the the fan harness saw the fan spring into life briefly - so loose connection in one of the plugs? Did some rewiring of the suspect plug - nothing. Disconnected the other plug and find with the thin blue wire disconnected the fan came on - hmmmm...
I figure that the blue wire must (very vague at this point) trigger the low speed setting and/or stop the high speed setting from coming on -break the connection and the fan will run at high speed. So fault on the low speed side maybe. Now- IT CAN'T POSSIBLY BE THE RESISTOR BECAUSE I SWAPPED THAT WITH A GOLD-COLOURED ONE SOME MONTHS EARLIER... Having nothing better to do I ordered another resistor from a pukka electronics and fitted it and then everything worked. Because first time around I had bought a CHEAP EBAY RESISTOR rather than buying something decent and it wasn't very good! Quelle surprise!

Failed it’s mot on near side rear upper arm with an advisory for the other one. Had hoped to scrape advisories for both so could get by till the revised arms were ready for delivery. Never mind, have put order in to dmgrs for a pair now and hopefully they arrive fairly soon after end of Feb, will just park car up when the mot runs out in about 3 weeks.

It’s got no MOT now, changed a few years ago so you don’t get to use car till end of current MOT

Ach well, it can sit warm in the garage for a few weeks then lol

*EDIT* Although the GOV site states a ‘Dangerous’ fail cannot be driven but you can drive a car with a ‘Major’ fail as long as it meets minimum road safety standards tyres correct tread depth etc etc (It is a major fail on my ZT)

Finished alternator change at weekend but as the hydromount had come apart had to wait for replacement from DMRGS to arrive today before job could be finished. However made use of time and changed rear O/side caliper, both rear discs and pads on the 51 plate 75 tourer.

A comprehensive list there, should feel a lot better when back on the road.

All sounds like a familiar "to do" job
