Just received my cable, originally set up for BMWs. Do you thinks the pins will need shorting on this one too? Soon find out I suppose (once I get hold of the software again; site's been down for a few days).

Pretty sure they all have to be shorted - but somebody will correct me if not. PS just realised you're using a Mac my versions are .exe files, so probably Windows only

Think minty2 realises he'll have to step over to the dark side ie Windows to use Toaf and he's very welcome to mail me too if he needs the original files.
Strangely I haven't heard anything from the OP who wanted the files too. Regards |

Hi folks,
I have been having problems connecting total my car. It is a 2002 Rover 75, 2.5 L V6 and I am in Australia. I have it connecting to the COM port on the computer but when I pushed the scan button. It starts reading but get halfway through the read and opens a page with provision for the Vin number et cetera but no data is filled in. If I push individual components scan it says the cannot find the component. I have jumped pin number seven and eight, so it isn't that. Does anybody have any suggestions where I can go from here? I am using a Windows 10 laptop. Thanks for any help in this matter. Damien |

Yes, I struggled with that one for a long time (also W10 laptop) - eventually, in desperation, bought a different cable, and it all came to life. There are loads of cables on eBay, all with the same descriptions, but the simple truth seems to be that there are differences between them, and the black one I bought first kind of half worked, just as you've described, but would go no further; the blue one I replaced it with worked perfectly first time. I'll try to dig out a link to the first kind I bought... PS you have bridged 7 & 8 haven't you? {update} OK forum won't let me post any more pics. However, the black (no good) cable was described thus: "Auto Diagnostic Tool USB Cable KKL VAG COM 409.1 OBD2 Diagnostic UK PyJRx" -so all sounded fine. But it was no good... may just have been faulty of course. All I can say for certain is that, for me, the black one didn't work, and the blue one did! Good luck

No problem. Here's a piccie - the blue one worked, the black sort of kind of worked a bit, but not enough to be useful. As you can see, they look remarkably similar, so it's just possible that my black one was simply faulty... if so, then it must be the same fault as yours has, so probably still worth replacing with a different one -they only cost me about £7 each...
