What I did with my Rover 75/MG ZT today?

Bit sad but at least something to do on Boxing Day - started putting standard dash trim back in, did have dash in that I painted bloss black but needs doing again / vinyl wrapping
So far I'm actually quite liking the standard, it's not been in there for years, they say change is as good as a rest

Finished today, with a bit of a bodge to attach gear lever gaitor

MG ZT,dropped the rear subframe today to make it easier to remove the 2 bolts that hold the rear Upper Suspension arms in place.Cleaned up subframe and painted,replaced Upper Suspension arms and refitted to car.

Removed a towbar then came inside as it’s bloomin freezing out there.

Looks like the bumper is goosed too, Gary Nelson in Seaton Carew will have a starlight silver bumper and a headlight, I'm heading there tomorrow to code a 25 keyfob so I can ask for you.

Not quiet pain free.
Was hoping to leave the rear disc,caliper and upper suspension arm on subframe,but ended up stripping it all off,The 2 fittings that hold the rear shoes onto the backplate were pulled through their fixing holes and were locked onto the disc,managed to leaver the disc forward enough to get at the adjuster from behind and free the shoes,which then fell off.Put a deep 8mm socket over the handbrake cable,pulled up handbrake and then hit the socket to free cable from housing.Removed hub as the ABS sensor needed replacing (had to drill out)

Cheers, don't think the garage is open again until 04 January so I have some time. I took it straight to the garage on the day so there would be no delay in them taking a look when they re-opened.

I was so NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- off and in a rush to not miss the last bus back home that I really didn't look as closely as I should've so not clear about the level of bumper damage. If there's a good bumper with decent paint it might be a cheaper option than getting the one that's on fixed / sprayed. For some reason there are no fogs.

I've tended to be focussed on the mechanics and trying to ensure that rust kept at bay but coming summer will be focussing on the multitude of cosmetics and irritations that need to put right.

Ironically, I still work and that's part time at Bishop Auckland and doubled up with a second p/t at Hartlepool for a six month contract ended last March.

Removed a rear subframe from the car I'm breaking as the rear arms are in very good condition, typically one of the captive nuts started spinning, this was following a good soak in plus gas, and working the bolt backwards and forwards for 30 mins.

Gotta love these cars
