Default MAF unplugged, whoosh!

Just unplugged the MAF and much more get up & go. Will do some 0 - 60 & standing quarter times later with & without to check its not just a placebo. My questions are:How will it affect the fuel consumption?
Is it ok to leave it unplugged permanently?

If you have more power with it unplugged then the MAF is faulty and the ecu is running on a default. In time the ecu will realise it is disconnected and revert to a default as before

Seems to be slower pick up with it plugged in.
Looks like I will have to start saving for a new MAF!

I've run mine for 9months with MAF unplugged. Chris kindly sorted me out with a MAF today at the first NE Metro meet of the year. Not sure yet on performance difference (it defo GOES), but certainly the mpg should be better (slightly). Certain mine would beat these times though. That might just be the X-power upgrade for you.

Mine is X-powered too, think there are other issues, O-rings for one. Will change the MAF when I have the funds.

How's your thermostat? I did the in-line thermostat mod, it gets upto temp within 4-5miles now and has a big influence on performance - sluggish when cold, shifts when hot. Once the needle hits 9 o'clock and you floor it, it GOES.

That seems very slow either way- i'm sure mine's about 9 seconds, although with a few mods, synergy etc...

Yip, I'd say mine was around the 9secs as well, that's just with X-power upgrade.
