Default Air Con problem.

Hi all the sun's out and my air con has gone on the blink
Usually when I press the air con button I can hear a resounding 'clunk' from the engine bay, and I'm then bathed in lovely cold air.
At the moment when I press the button there is no clunk and I'm getting normal, ambient temperature air.
I had the air con recharged last year so the system was refilled then.
Any ideas please?
Thanks

Check fuse 9 (10A) in the engine fuse box and the air con relay too...

Right.....fuse 9 is ok, I got someone to press the 'econ' button repeatedly while I checked the relay..should it be clicking when the econ button is pressed? Mine is making no noise at all...
Thanks

When I press the demist button the fan kicks in, the relay is also clickng but no cold air, the air con pipes on top of the engine bay are also warm, they are usually very cold.
Thanks
