Lightbulb Exterior Temp Sensor Fuel Burning Heater Upgrade JWL000020

Symptoms:
FBH coming on with engine running at higher than normal exterior temperatures (>5degC) or the FBH not activating at lower temperatures.

A more accurate Fuel burning heater exterior temperature sensor is available to order. Landrover part number JWL000020. The new more accurate sensor is coloured green compared to the original fit black (JWL100030A) version.

The exterior temperature sensor is located behind the front r/h side bumper just under the lowest grille of the bumper.

Default exterior temp sensor

I have the same sensor on my ZT cdti which dosn't appear to be working as i am getting a reading of -30 on the dash. The FBH seems to be working ok both manually and with the remote but what i want to know is do they fit different sensors to cars without a FBH, as the sensor i got from Rimmers is this one and the plugs are completely different and don't fit.JTF000180.jpg

Default exterior temp sensor

Hi, thanks for the quick reply if you have a look at the link to Rimmershttp://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID001618 you will see why i got confused because they show both being located behind the front bumper. Numbers 4 and 6

I may be being daft here - but if your dash is showing -30.0 then the sensor you have bought, the one in the picture, is the one that requires replacement.

Can you confirm you have this fitted on the inside of your bumper, and if so, have you tried swapping them over to see if it resolves your -30 issue?

Sorry to be asking daft questions, but something is not adding up here.

Hi, the sensor i have behind the bumper is the black round one in the 1st post. The one i purchased is in the photo i posted . The plugs are different so cannot just swap over but have linked them with wire and disconnected the battery but still read -30. Hope this helps Lew

i have got it the black round in the 1st post is for the fbh and yes they did change the connectors later on i have a early one if needed. the other sensor is for the ipk which in your case is now showing minus 30 this has nowt to do with the one you have which as stated a battery reset should sort out.your fbh will not come on until the i gets down to minus 5 which your ipk will tell you but the ipk sensor does not control

Ok, I admit my tech knowledge is very limited but I had thought the temperature sensor was the same on all models. I know on the 75 its fitted along the very bottom of the bumper and feeds of the loom that the fogs / indicators are on.

Can someone with a ZT confirm a) the existence of the same sensor and b) it's location?

I'm still seeing this as that you have the sensor pictured somewhere else and that it still needs replaced with the one you have bought, but I stand by to be corrected.
