Blimey I'm sick of chainsawing wood now!
Doesn,t last long the wood , I must have sent forests up my chimney over the years , it looks a lot stacked up but soon burns away.

True enough, I do have my own bit of wood so it's worth it.

Wood fires eh, guess you know that elm is the worst to burn, its a waste of time
Ash not much good until dried out

Following are good
Oak, embers throw a lot of heat, split logs best, Good for camping fry ups!
Beech, burns well but soon gone, same for Hazel
Any fruit tree usualy burns well
Sycamore, much like Beech, preferably after drying out for a few months
Holly goes well green or dried

Was in the Scouts in my youth-----

Jarra wood - its a red wood - what they use for railway sleepers burns for ever and burns hot - dont really thing cutting down the rainforrests for Fire wood is very clever though

I don't think they cut down rainforests for firewood Carl, for growing biofuels and for cattle for hamburgers possibly.

I have a hectare ish of oak and acacia mainly which has been neglected for years. I take mainly from clearing overgrown areas and removing dead trees and trees too close to each other. Eventually I will have to take trees but hopefuly then I will have a cycle going of replacements.

Wood pellet burners are growing in popularity here as they are very efficient and are a renewable source of energy.
