Always the same there, it's on a single road past waddo. As soon as anything unsual flies in and out it's busy. Even when there isn't it's very busy with spotters, I think they have there own car park it's so busy.

I think it would be to try and get the best show they can. Best bet is during the week I would think, might be able to but cost would go up and I believe there is no charge. Might have to charge if it was on a weekend? Is it 'paired' with another airshow, some are now?
Not any good to you of course, must be annoying if you would like to go and watch but can't.

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/66553 This any good?

I thought there was something of the like, local radio says it's completely full. Not far away now, just heard it over head I think.

Been like it the last twenty years or so it's been running.
Local companies help fund it by sponsership and there are people going around with buckets asking for donations amongst the crowds.
I think the cost is a bit of a Red Herring though as if it were put on the weekend thousands more would come for a weekend at the seaside and put more money into the local economy
It has been discussed many times in Clacton over the years but no one has made the change stick, more's the pity
As it is all the local business's that don't benefit directly from the AirShow (like us) pretty much lose lots of trade!

I wonder what the reason is then? Only thing I can think is it's the best to get enough aircraft. What do the organisers say?

It would be almost certainly money as you said.
The argument has been that if you spend more to host it on the weekend then more money would be put back into the local coffers.....It's just that no one has been brave enough to risk it

Both Lancasters have just flown over our house along with Spitfire and Hurricane.

Looks like they were heading for Wattisham/Clacton?

Used to hearing Apaches and the odd C-130 but this was something else. Still have the goose bumps.

If I can get up early enough tomorrow will try and get over to Clacton.

They have just finished their display here, didn't get to see anything from work though, obviously the cloud cover made them fly a different run from last year!
Hopefully get a better chance tomorrow
