. . . . I don't really speak french either, but I'm not far from the border, i.e. the nearest French town is Sierck-les-Bains, where we occasionally pass through on the sighsteeing route to Metz. We were thinking of heading towards Paris this weekend, but after a family debate we will probably go to Dijon instead. If ever you're heading this way . . . . .

This is just a little rich. The only place English is not well understood - IMHO - is in the country that spawned the language. It's fascinating to observe the greater mass of a nation that has so influenced world development at odds with its own tongue. Naturally, you being a Welshman, I wouldn't include you in that "mass". Diolch yn fawr.

Hi all, I'm in Nancy, have been for the last 20 years.
I went to Orleans last weekend to pickup a rover mini that I am going to restore.

We sometimes take a break there on the way back from a family visit down south. First time I remember thinking "this is maybe not my best idea" as we drove through the industrial outskirts; but once we saw Place Stanislas all such thoughts were allayed. A grand spot!

Default En Retraite

Amities

We have plans to retire to France in 2021, to live in the Aude near Carcassonne. We already have a holiday home there and we take our holidays there. Currently we hire a car but in future we would like to keep our own car there.

I am considering taking my Rover 75 1.8T and I wonder whether there are the garages that have the necessary specialist knowledge?

Thanks

Well there are no more XPart affiliated garages in the Carcassonne area. There is one in Toulouse, another one in Perpignan, but that's a bit far from where you'd be.

Interesting this as Mother wishes to move to France. It is a dream she has had for several decades now just need the place here to sell then the move will be on.

Hello,

I'm in the Cambrai area. I've been a member since 2015 but got my first Rover 75 only three months ago. I joined initially to see what true enthusiasts were saying about their cars and to get an idea as to which would be the best model for me. So far I'm very happy with my choice; it's a 2004 CDT in grey with charcoal leather interior. I also have a Suzuki 4x4 and a Peugeot 308 cc but it's the Rover I've been driving the most! I've been here 23 years and my wife is French so I feel neither entirely English nor 100% French, just what I call cht'inglish!

Default Best Rover 75 garage near Paris?

Hello all, I'm a new member and new owner of a 75 as of two days ago.

It took me several months of searching to find the right one. They're all about double the price and double the Milage (or rather kilometrage) of what you find in the UK; and like all cars here full of war wounds.

Now that I have found one that is quite reasonable I'd like advice on where to go for parts and service near Paris. Straight away I need to deal with the following problems:

-Replace glass in left hand side mirror.
-handbrake not doing much at all.
-dash monitor with lines through it.
-change computer language from German to French or English.

Despite all these problems it was actually the best of around 20 that I viewed here. Seems in top condition otherwise.

Many thanks in advance, Alexander.
