75 estate Central locking
Can you explain how the central locking key works...My key sometimes works but its intermittent.The red light flashes but sometimes does not open or lock the door.....is it powered by a battery somewhere..whats is the life of these keys... do they have to be replaced.

The remote is powered by a button cell, CR2032. They have a long life but do need replacing. To replace simply split the key body, old battery out, new one in.
