I will probably be fround on but, i would give the coolant a small dose of leak sealer.
Normally if a leak is found and identified, i would suggest getting the part repaired or replaced BUT when faced with pulling heads off etc cost etc the sealer route is the way to go. I had similar choice some years ago with a leak in my kv6 which no one could find. Had varied diagnosis, slipped liners, head gasket etc. Used the sealer and car has been perfect ever since over 5 years Given that some manufacturers actually put sealer into their coolant systems from new think it should be ok. |

sealer for me will not be the way to go . it can give you more problems than solve. my v6 has only done 71 thousand miles and as a rule only does around 20 miles a day. used sealer on a 1.8 a few years ago . didnt end well.
thanks. |

Have you looked at the oil cooler pipes that run along the front of the car? They very often develop pin-holes from rust, which can result in a practically invisible leak and matches the symptoms you describe perfectly.
Stainless steel ones are available - for a price - but I replaced mine with heater hose all the way, sleeved and cable-tied where required. Another solution is copper pipe from a builders. The original pipework has an I.D. of 17mm and an O.D. of 19mm and both 15mm and 22mm pipes have been used as successful replacements.
