Default One for the MOT experts

My rover 800 is booked i on Tuesday any the park feature on the wipers has stopped, I can get the jets working with wash wipe but at the end it parks mid screen with just a touch on the control to get it down to the bottom of the screen. Same with the wipers they complete the sweep but stop anywhere. So is this an automatic fail ?
Thanks

Have a read of this document: 3.1. Field of vision.

MOT rules, visibility.

Maybe if you know the tester he will be lenient though.

Thanks well it’s up to the gods now can’t get a replacement and sometimes it parks right in the middle (fail) and others an inch or two up from the bottom (maybe fail)

I dont know if it is a fail or not (I couldnt imagine it would be, providing the wipers clear and dont obscure vision lol), nor do I know the 800. However, I had a Renault 5 many moons ago, that had this exact problem - except it wasnt posh enough to have an auto sweep when the washers were used lol, but it did have a momentary push up for a single sweep.

It turned out to be a dedicated fuse called 'Park' yet had a wiper symbol on it. I noticed this fuse one day when changing another fuse,so had to look it up in the manual. I had never heard of it before, and couldnt understand, until the wipers never returned when I switched the car off whilst they were active. Thats when it occurred to me about the fuse, swapped it out, and they worked as they should. I learned what wiper park does!

I still dont understand how it works, as without this fuse, the wipers including the sweep still operate as they would, except they didnt park when switched off, by key, switch or momentary sweep switch.

If the wipers work and clear the screen and you can tell the tester how to park the wipers at the bottom then pass and advise
