Default exhaust question

Hi, All the best to everyone.

just a quick question, when my rover went in for the mot last month I had a quick nose under the car on the ramps and noticed that the exhaust was all in one piece, original exhaust nearly 17 yrs old but now I think its blowing somewhere, so my question is do I have to replace the full exhaust or get one in 2 pieces and join, price wise is £200 +, I know it all depends on where its blowing, but any advice is welcome, thanks

John

Far better to get under it and find where it's blowing. Once found you can decide on what really needs attention. When it's too cold or dark, start tracking parts and put them on a watch list. Good luck.

If just a back box is needed, most exhaust centres are able to cut through the pipe and make a join.

Have a look at the thread above £79 from ebay with 5 year warranty. Fitting cost £30 from local mobile mechanic.

Very happy with it...

Default If...

If the back box looks like pulled pork it will need replacing, if it has limited rust it can be mended, both skins can be replaced long before it looks beyond help. The way to view it is does the external rust have a larger area than the internal part, if so it's rusting from outside in, that's easily welded back to perfect. It depends on the budget and how quiet you want it to be.
