Default V6 miles from a full tank?

Hi folks,

I've done a search before posting this question. Thought I'd post it anyway as many of the previous posts are quite old.

In currently using the V6 for daily driving. I work 7 miles from so does a 14 mile round trip plus shopping etc.

The last tank full of Tesco fuel from very empty gave just 293 miles. (Mainly driving round town with the occasional motorway journey) not hard driving etc.

Current tank full Im currently looking around the 330/340 miles from looking at the computer.

Just wondering if our V6 is more thirsty than usual. It's a 2.0 V6 auto.
I don't really drive it hard and treat the throttle like there's an egg under it. Going to work (one town to another on a mix of 30mph and 50 mph roads I'm around 21/22mpg)

Thanks Rob

It's the 16mpg around town that gets you 340 ish out of my 2.5 auto.
No point getting a V6 if you want high MPG

Cool

On a good run I can get 26mpg out of my V8 ZTT. With a bit of practice you can get it down to 8mpg. (Been there).

My manual 190 is giving me less mpg than the V8, which I have to say was unexpected. I'm seeing 22 mpg, but she has just passed 140k. I'm hoping to fettle things a bit when I get the time, but she's actually running very well so I'm not in a hurry. Fortunately I don't have a big commute.

My 2 litre v6 always seems to average around 26 mpg in mixed driving. However on long motorway drives comes in about 30 mpg.

Hi Rob,

How are you determining your consumption; by reading the trip computer or doing a brim-to-brim calculation?

Figures from my Cowley V6 2 litre auto bought in May 2020 on 56447 miles when I got it, last fill 15th December 2020 on 59964miles.
Total miles 3517
Total gallons 134.53
Average MPG 26.14

Over the 7 months best average was 33.18 mpg
Worst was 21.74 mpg.
I always brim the tank and record the mileage every fill up.

They are always worse during the winter & doing short journeys.
Just for interest mine averages about 350 between fill ups which is 29 mpg.
Same 2ltr v6 auto with a 10 mile each way commute.

Yup! 28-30 mpg for me too. A little more on a run. Worth every penny/pound!

Thanks for the replies,

Sd1too, I've worked out my first fill up after it being off the road a few weeks.

First fill up on 8th Jan (fuel gauge fully into the circle with 6 miles range showing)
Filled up 58 litres completely filling the tank.

Filled up again on the 16th having covered 270 miles with 12 miles left in the tank (coughing going uphill) so it was low..
Filled up again 58 litres. (Coincidence)

I knew the V6 was thirsty, but working fairly close to home etc isn't too much of an issue. Just wondering what other people get from a full tank.

Thanks
Rob
