So I tested the other sensor that did not start the car and it seemed fine, cleared the codes and restarted the car, to my surprise it started, ran diag no codes, put other sensor in and no codes. The only thing I did was take the ECM apart and test continuity on the terminals.
The car has not been used and the battery disconnected for a week.

I will take the car home tonight if it starts, then see what happens tomorrow, this is why I will not take an old car to a garage the cost would have been more than it’s worth.

Thanks all for your help will keep you updated.
Dad’s ZT-T 190 KV6 isn’t starting.
What code reader did you use?

I had a persistent misfire on the V8 a few years back. The main Ford dealer, after three trips in, changed a COP at vast expense, which made no difference.
They then said I needed to change all of the COP's at even greater expense had I gone ahead.
I took the car home and spent a long day pulling off every single connector in the engine I could find, used a contact cleaner and air gun on everything and put it all back together. The misfire went and has never returned. Might help in your situation. So many potential poor contacts in older cars.

This is very sound advice.
My motley collection of shonky old motorcycles get regular loom refurbishment/rewiring. I did have some halfords branded green connector spray grease, but now use acf50.
The advantage of a shonky old motorbike is that it fits in my shed/garage and isn't out in the pouring rain.
