what use are these stats?

holiday bookings up "300"%, flights "600"%

what use are they? what do they tell us?
Would numbers be better, holiday bookings up from "1" to "3", flights up from "1" to "6", is this more informative?

They are classed as Impressive headline figures, designed to prompt people who are thinking about booking to actually do it in case the price increases or sells out
